Vintage 1960s Restaurant Ware Small Gravy Boat by Jackson China circa 1965-1967

Vintage 1960s Restaurant Ware Small Gravy Boat by Jackson China circa 1965-1967

{HISTORY}

Part of Jackson China's Gold & White Series that debuted in the mid-1960s, this small vintage restaurant ware gravy boat, also known as a sauce boat, features a simple gold stripe and slightly scalloped edge.Ā

Made between 1965-1967 in Falls Creek, PA, this boat in its petite, individually proportioned size was just the right server for all those extra dollops and drizzles of sauces and gravies that made a meal out and about extra special. Today, this size also makes a great creamer for the coffee cart or tea tray.

As part of Jackson's universal stock patterns, this boat was not made for any particular restaurant or dining establishment. Instead, it captures the best of a bon vivant, BohemianĀ  spirit that could have seen the kitchens of a country inn, a city hotel, a yacht club dining room, a corporate cafeteria, or any other style of eatery in between. Given its fancy gold stripe and simple style, we suspect this server was destined for an elegant space. Perhaps a wedding venue or a college dining hall, a tony civic club or a luxury cruise ship. Whichever the scenario might be, that's the fun of vintage restaurant ware. It's a serving piece and a story all at once.
