Vintage 1950s Taylor Smith Taylor Petal Lane Dinner Plates circa 1959 - Set of Six
{HISTORY}
Serve up a bit of 1950s Americana with this set of six Taylor Smith Taylor dinner plates!
Featuring the Petal Lane pattern, these dishes are stamped with TST's 1959 Homemaker Set mark and also their Versatile plate shape mark.
Homemaker sets were designed for young marrieds, second-home owners, and anyone desiring an additional set of dishware for everyday use. Casual, carefree, and containing popular colors of the era, these homemaker sets contained all the pieces necessary (cups, plates bowls, etc) for a serving of eight. They even came with matching glassware and flatware for a completely cohesive look. Offered at affordable prices, they were ideal starter sets for newlyweds, for people who liked to entertain a lot, or for anyone outfitting a vacation home.
Versatile launched at Taylor Smith Taylor in the 1950s too. It featured smooth shapes and rimless edges for a more modern, sleeker look, unlike anything TST had produced before. Bearing many different patterns within this style, the Versatile series was available through the 1960s.
Featuring a whimsical off-set floral design and a platinum rim, this set of Petal Lane plates contains the colors sky blue, cucumber, salmon pink, and slate grey - all those iconic shades that made the 1950s cheerful and bright with jubilant design. A gorgeous choice for spring and summer tables especially, this set also brightens the day as wall decor in a kitchen or dining space.
