{HISTORY}

Like a lush and bountiful summer garden bouquet, these pretty vintage berry bowls are bursting with color and cottage charm. Made by Edwin Knowles in the1940s, this pattern is called Navarre and features a big bouquet of colorful blooms that include roses, forget-me-nots, and strawflowers.Ā  Designed in the Puritan shape, these bowls are also rimmed with gold and contain an embossed edge that mirrors the outline of a flower petal.Ā 

Based in West Virginia between 1900-1963, Edwin M. Knowles made some of the prettiest dishware in the country with patterns that were colorful, feminine, and visually striking. This pair of bowls was no exception. Colors include pink, lavender, butter, tangerine, watermelon green, magenta, sage, periwinkle, and bluebell.Ā 

So pretty for spring and summer entertaining, garden parties, Mother's Day brunch, and Easter festivities, these bowls are helpful servers in a variety of ways. From food prep to breakfast servers to late-night snack holders, they accommodate all sorts of food-related tasks all also bringing an extra bit of beauty to each occasion.

  • Stamped on back with maker's mark and date code

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition. These bowls contain no chips or cracks. One bowl has two pencil-point sized light dots on the interior side wall. One of these dots is a brush mark from the gold rim and the other is an errant speck of transferware from the floral bouquet. Both are located under the glaze.Ā  Please see photos.Ā
