Vintage Midcentury Metal Tea & Coffee Canisters - Matching Set of Two

{HISTORY}

A popular organizer of the midcentury kitchen, metal canisters like these two often came in sets of four to hold flour, sugar, coffee, and tea. Stackable and easy to store, they were sometimes referred to as apartment sets  - an ideal arrangement for small spaces and tight quarters.  

Featuring polished chrome exteriors, retro font, and removable lids these two bring a bit of 1950s nostalgia to pantries, countertops, and cupboards. Besides being a handy holder for tea and coffee, vintage canisters like these make ideal storage containers for all sorts of kitchen odds and ends. We also love to use containers like these two for gift boxes, plant holders, flatware organizers and recipe storage.

Unmarked as to maker or manufacturer, they join dozens of other similiar designs of the era, each with their own bit of distinct style. A font change or direction... a pastel colored body and a chrome lid or a pastel lid and a chrome body... round, square, rectangle or revolving in shape... patterned or plain - there was no end to the designs of these handy helpers. That's proof of their popularity and their practicality.

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition, these two boxes are clean and shiny both inside and out. There's a very fine line of rust along the bottom seam of each box on the exterior as expected with age and design style. The lids easily fit each box and the lid knobs are strong and secure.
