Frida Kahlo was one of the most famous Mexican artists in history, butĀ alongside her immense creative talents lies a country full of artisans complimenting the culture with their own artistic interpretations. This Mexican clay box was handpainted by one such artist.Ā
Not quite as well known as Frida, the work of these Mexican folk artists are most prominently seen in the travel souvenir shops where their painting adorns all sorts of handicrafts that are both functional and decorative. Featuring a design of grey and coral flowers, leaves, and dots this beautifully made box is delightfully detailed - a kaleidescope of shapes and shadows.
Measuring 5.5" inches x 5.5" inches, this is a great size for all sorts of kitchen purposes... holding matchbooks for the fireplace, rings, and bracelets near the kitchen sink, drink picks at the bar, orĀ any other sorts of little miscellanies that need to be corralled like keys or cash or kitchen odds and ends.Ā Ā
Colors include beige, coral, salmon, orange, light grey, and dark grey.

In lovely vintage condition. Smooth glaze. No cracks. There is one very small chip (about 1/8th of an inch long) along one edge of the lid. Please see photo.
