Vintage Kobe Porcelain Enamelware Mixing Bowl & Small Bowl with Lids - Set of Two circa 1980s

Vintage Kobe Porcelain Enamelware Mixing Bowl & Small Bowl with Lids - Set of Two circa 1980s

They look as good as they cook! (from a 1989 JCPenney advertisement for Kobe kitchenware)

{HISTORY}

Made by Kobe exclusively for JCPenney in the 1980s, this vintage pair of porcelain enamelware bowls was part of an extensive cookware series that included pots, pans, colanders, mixing bowls, storage bowls, and utensil holders.

Beautifully functional and stylish in the kitchen, these bowls are accompanied by their original heavy-duty plastic lids and feature a colorful cottage floral print reminiscent of early 20th-century vintage patterns.

The large bowl was designed with mixing purposes in mind while the small bowl was intended for storage or takealongs in lunch sacks and picnic baskets.

Available at JCPenney stores across the US, the Kobe line offered several different pattern choices with feminine names like Angela and Courtney, but this pattern's name is unknown.  Bloomy and blossomy, it features big bouquets of flowers in a cheerful palette of colors that include shades of coral, ketchup, butter, lavender, celery, blueberry, almond, and asparagus against a bright white background.

Nowadays, vintage Kobe bowls are hard to find with their original matching lids which makes these two all the more prized and helpful in the kitchen. We love them for their pretty cottage aesthetic, their bright and shiny porcelain glaze, and their ability to coordinate so well with other vintage dishware patterns in both solid colors and mismatched florals.

{SPECIAL FEATURES}

- Matching set of two bowls, complete with original lids

- Stamped with the Kobe mark on bottom

{CONDITION}

In beautiful vintage condition, these two bowls look practically brand new. Very clean inside and out, there are no chips, cracks or stains on the bowls or lids with the exception of three small scratches (about 1/8th" inch in length) on the interior lip of the small bowl. The lids fit snugly and securely against the bowls.  Thee small bowl easily fits inside the big bowl for easy storage. Please see photos.

{SIZE}

The small bowl measures 5l5" inches (diameter) x 2.5" inches (height) and weighs 11 oz (with lid)

The large mixing bowl measures 8.25" inches (diameter) x 5.5" inches (height) and weighs 2 lbs (with lid)
