Vintage Greenisle Floral Linen Tea Towel with Original Paper Tag circa 1940s

{HISTORY}

Back in the1940s, when you were looking for reliable kitchen linens you reached for Greenisle tea towels, napkins, and placemats. Made in Ireland of pure Irish linen, these Emerald Island beauties came in an array of colors and patterns to enhance your kitchen decor, your beverage trays, and your dining table. 

Makers of clothing and assorted household linens, Greenisle was known for its durable fabrics that held up well wash after wash.  They could withstand the rugged play of children with their kid's clothes line, just as well as they could stand up to the daily tasks of kitchen work. All while looking stylish while doing it. 

This vintage Greenisle tea towel is made of linen and features a vibrant hand-printed garden-themed pattern complete with flowers, butterflies, watering cans, and garden tools. Colors include Windsor blue, dark raspberry, salmon pink, and eggplant against an ivory background. 

Containing its original sticker marked with C.S.Co., most likely a distributor for Greenisle linens, this tea towel has been tucked away in a drawer, never used across its entire 80 years of life. 

Normally, all vintage linens that come to the shop are professionally laundered, but in order to protect the paper label, this one has not been. Thanks to its wonderful care by a previous owner, it is in gorgeous, practically brand new condition with no spots, stains, or pulled threads. Should you choose to remove the paper label and launder it yourself, the colors will most likely brighten up even a bit more and the fold lines will relax and easily iron out.
