Vintage Pink and Black Cherry Blossoms Platter - Vintage Floral Dinnerware - Black, Pink, Red Dinnerware

Vintage Pink and Black Cherry Blossoms Platter - Vintage Floral Dinnerware - Black, Pink, Red Dinnerware

The significance of the cherry blossom tree in Japanese culture goes back hundreds of years. The cherry blossom represents the beauty and fragility of life. It is a reminder that life is almost always overwhelmingly beautiful but that it is also tragically short. Homoro Cantu

{HISTORY}

Most likely dating to the mid-20th century, this pink and black cherry blossom floral platter definitely carries a retro 1960s vibe. Unfortunately, it is not stamped on the back with a maker's mark so we don't know, at this time, its origin story or the name of the pattern to which it belongs. But what we do know is that it has wonderful crazing marks and a delicate feminity. The black lines of the bark and leaves are crisp and the pinkish/red flowers are fuzzy giving a vibrant energy to the overall appearance.  A gorgeous companion paired with either, pink, red or black dishes this platter stands out not only for its mysterious past but also for its accommodating color palette.

{SPECIAL FEATURES}

- Rare design

- Pretty cherry blossom pattern

- Gorgeous crazing

{CONDITION}

There is one very tiny chip (practically invisible) near the base of the branch at the bottom and a small chip on the backside of the dish that is 1/8" inch wide. Please see photos for detail.  Wonderful crazing. No cracks.

{SIZE}

Measures 14" inches (length) x 10" inches (width) and weighs 1.13 lbs

{STYLE IDEA}

So pretty for wall display or food display, this platter works especially well for springtime collections or romantic holiday parties (like Valentine's Day!). It also looks lovely paired with red willow-ware, since their colors and themes are similar.
