Vintage Alfred Meakin Federal Pattern Platter Zenith Shape circa 1930s

Vintage Alfred Meakin Federal Pattern Platter Zenith Shape circa 1930s

{HISTORY}

Sometimes all it takes to brighten up your day (and your kitchen) is a ninety-year-old platter decked out in bold and cheery colors.Ā

Made in England in the 1930s by Alfred Meakin, this vibrant, floral, vintage platter features the hand-painted Federal pattern on the Zenith shape. Comprised of trailing flowers and energetic triangles accented with embossed handles, two-toned shading, and swirly flourishes, there is a lot to admire when it comes to this beauty of a server.

Debuting just in time for the spring and summer seasons in 1930, Alfred Meakin's Zenith shape was dubbed a "charmer" by retail outlets. Ā The perfect dishware to carry home entertainers through all the warm-weather months, from the Easter holiday all the way through Labor Day, the hand-painted florals of this Federal pattern radiate with joy and in turn will add an extra bit of sunshine to your soiree.

A wide variety of foods would pair beautifully with the Federal florals including baked chicken, tacos, fresh salads, pasta, and grilled veggies. When not busy at the table, this one also makes a beautiful wall hanging.Ā

{SPECIAL FEATURES}

  • Ā Colors include tangerine, lemon, lime, pale yellow, bright white, blueberry, raspbery, black and pale pumpkin
  • Ā Stamped on back with maker's mark, shape name, and the hand-painted mark of the decorator

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition, this vintage platter contains no cracks, spots, or staining. Like any good partier, it has seen some spirited occasions in its day, as evidenced by the three small chips on the back near the rim. These chips cannot be seen from the front. The black stripe around the rim and also at the center is wearing lightly in some spots. The hand-painted florals are bright, crisp, and clear.Ā

{SIZE}

Measures 14.25" inches (length) x 10.5" inches (width) and weighs 2 lbs.
