Vintage 1960's Embroidered Sampler - Bless My Kitchen Prayer - Framed Handstitched Folk Art

Vintage 1960's Embroidered Sampler - Bless My Kitchen Prayer - Framed Handstitched Folk Art

Bless my cozy kitchen. Bless my pots and pans. Bless my stove that warmly glows. Bless each friend that comes and goes...

{HISTORY}

In the 1960's, if you were looking for a fun needlework project you'd turn to your favorite magazine, Everywoman's Family Circle for inspiration on the latest embroidery patterns and designs. That's where you would have found this Bless My Kitchen Prayer. Available in kit format, it enabled you to practice your own embroidery as you handstitched your very own sampler with a pattern that was reminiscent of the needlework projects undertaken centuries ago by girls and women around the globe.

With its sweet sentiment and beautiful workmanship, this sampler was beautifully executed and contains a bevy of pretty colors to match your pretty kitchen. Although this cloth art is unsigned, part of its charm is imagining who might have sewn it. We like to think she had a wonderful personality and was completely in love with cooking, and her kitchen and making good food for good people.

Clean, bright and simply framed, this kitchen art is both a motto and a prayer, a mission statement and an attitude, a reminder and an oath to be grateful for all the things and all the people that make up your cozy cook space.
