Vintage 1950s Yellow Sugar Bowl with White Flowers by Taylor Smith Taylor

Vintage 1950s Yellow Sugar Bowl with White Flowers by Taylor Smith Taylor

{HISTORY}

A sunny little charmer in the kitchen, this vintage-covered sugar bowl features the prettiest shade of pastel yellow along with a delicate floral sprig on both the base and the lid. A very hard to find pattern and piece among the TS&T canon of dish shapes and designs, this one is all midcentury with its interesting inset lid and cute little knob that just peeks up over the rim of the sugar bowl.

Generous in size, the bowl itself is almost like a small soup or cereal bowl making it an accommodating helper in the kitchen for a variety of purposes beyond sweetening tea and coffee. Originally, back in the 1950s, this beauty would have come with a matching creamer, but somewhere along the way the two companions parted ways and this one was left to float through the decades on its own. Seventy years later, it still looks just as beautiful as they day it was made.

A traveler of cheerful disposition, the pattern name of this bowl is unknown, but what it lacks in detailed specificity it more than makes up for in visual interest and appeal. A gold rim highlights the edge of both the rim and the lid. A white wild rose type flower with bouquets of tiny white flowers feature elegantly on both the top of the lid and on one side of the bowl. A pedestal base adds statuesque style. All in all, this unique creature is a delight any way you look at it.

{SPECIAL FEATURES}

  • Two piece set includes base and removable lid
  • Colors include pastel yellow, rosemary green and lemon yellow
  • Please note - the color of this dish changes with the light and can appear a touch darker and brighter in dimmer lighting. The actual color of the sugar bowl most closely resembles the pale pastel shade featured in the images with the white plate.

{CONDITION}

In beautiful vintage condition, this suagr bowl contains no chips, cracks, spots or staining. The floral imagery is crisp and bright and the gold edges shimmery and shiny.

{SIZE}

Measures 3" inches (height) x 5" inches (diameter at widest point) and weighs 13 oz.
