{HISTORY}

Every good gourmand needs a good traveling case (or two!) to escort them on all those globetrotting adventures of the culinary kind! This set of vintage J.C.Higgins Starline luggage is here to do just that. 

Made in 1955 and distributed through Sears, Roebuck and Co., these two Starline pieces were designed for the modern woman of the 1950s who appreciated simple style and lasting quality with a dash of elegant color. Comprised of two sizes - an overnighter piece and a larger weekend case, these two feature a tan exterior and a coppertone interior (a shade that sits somewhere between coral and brick). 

Made of lightweight wood veneer and covered in plastic-coated vinyl for easy cleaning, Starline luggage was known for its durability to withstand the rigors of travel in all its fashions. Whether you were embarking on a journey via bus, plane, train or boat Starline was designed to get you there looking calm, cool, and collected. And also effortlessly stylish. 

This matching set of two is particularly fun, not only because it is in such wonderful condition, but also because it includes the original keys, the original plastic name tag and the original promotional hang-tag (a booklet of 8 pages!) making it a true time capsule of midcentury travel nostalgia.

{CONDITION}

In very good condition, these two cases were well cared for throughout their 70 years of adventuring. The elastic is loose on the interior pocket of the small case, making it a bit droopy and there are four small,  light spots on the interior fabric. The interior fabric of the larger case is in great shape with no noticeable flaws or issues. There is some very minor rusting to the gold latches (most noticeable on just one latch on the small case) and there are some light grey scuff marks on the rounded edges as expected with age and use. Latches and locks on each case are in great working condition.

{SIZE}

The small case known as the overnighter measures 18" inches (length) x 12" inches  (height) x 6" inches (width) and weighs 4lbs 14 oz.

The larger case known as the weekender measures 21" inches 14" inches x 7" inches and weighs 6lbs. 8oz.
