Vintage 1950s Marghab Yellow Butterfly Linens - Guest Towel Size - Embroidered Flowers & Butterfly - Set of Three

Vintage 1950s Marghab Yellow Butterfly Linens - Guest Towel Size - Embroidered Flowers & Butterfly - Set of Three

May the wings of the butterfly kiss the sun, And find your shoulder to light on, to bring you luck, happiness and riches, Today tomorrow and beyond.  Irish Blessing

{HISTORY}

Here they are... three sunny yellow linens beautifully hand-embroidered by Marghab in the 1950s. Originally intended as guest towels, these cloths have been loved and laundered over the past 70 decades to result now in the softest, most beautifully draped and delicate fabric. With the thinness of a handkerchief combined with the intricate needlework that has made the Marghab name a luxury brand of revered linens, it's not hard to get swept up in the beauty of these fine fabrics.

Each thread is hand-placed, handstitched, and lovingly designed for eye-catching appeal. This design, in addition to several different types of embroidery stitch work also includes drawn work on the edges of the butterfly wing, which involves pulling individual threads from the cloth in order to make intentional holes in the fabric for decorative purposes.

Part of the life-long collection of a professional seamstress based in Minnesota, these linens have traveled between centuries beautifully.  Even though they started out as guest towels, nowadays they can serve a variety of purposes in the linen department. Tray liners, cocktail cart towels,  picnic napkins, and display pieces for your homemade culinary creations are just a few suggestions.

IN addition to sunny yellow, this design also came in several order combinations including blue, white, and peach.
