Vintage 1950s Hall Custard Cups Navy Blue #351 - Set of Six

{HISTORY}

A classic staple in the kitchen from the 1920s through the 1970s, Hall's custard cups have been a part of the helpful kitchen crew in just about every pattern they produced. Early editions contained embossed stripes, and throughout the decades, the body styles varied slightly, but there was no doubt in proving the usefulness of these handy little works.

Thick-walled like restaurant ware and heavy in weight (8 oz each), they were designed originally for custard as the name suggests, but with their 1/2 cup proportion, they were also handy for serving other things too - yogurt, dips, ice cream, pudding, soup, beans, macaroni and cheese, etc.. That's how you know when you have a good bowl in your hands - its versatility is limitless.

Many custard cups came in Hall's favorite patterns, but there was also a solid set that came in a wide variety of colors from this deep navy blue to avocado green, chocolate brown, pale pink, and orange, to name a few. This set of six, with its bright white interior, is a bit harder to find these days.

We love the cute little shape of these cups, their ability to stack one inside another, and their ability to float flawlessly between blue and white patterns of any decade made throughout the 20th century. Classic pieces with timeless appeal, they were and still are marvelous little workers when it comes to food and fun.
