Vintage 1940s Milk Glass Mixing Bowl for Hamilton Beach Stand Mixer

Vintage 1940s Milk Glass Mixing Bowl for Hamilton Beach Stand Mixer

To me, a kitchen's beauty lies in the way it works. Dorothy Rodgers

{HISTORY}

Whoever it was thatĀ first declared good things come in small packages was completely correct if they were talking about stand mixer kitchen bowls. I think they were actually referring to pretty jewelry in small boxes, but petiteĀ mixer bowls are equally delightful, if not more so, if you are a lover of cooking. Highly functional, humble and incredibly accommodating, a small mixing bowl is always up for a big number of tasks.

This one, made of milk glass, is from a 1930s/1940s era Hamilton Beach stand mixer. It features a pour spout for batters and stylish stripes for design flair as well as a small pedestal bottomĀ madeĀ to fit securely inside the mixing ring of the stand.Ā Originally, theĀ  mixer came with two bowls - a larger one and this small one, but somewhere along the road of history theĀ larger companion bowl became separated from its pal. No matter. You can always (always) use an extra petite bowl in the kitchen whether you are whipping up eggs for scramble, pancake batter for two or blending homemade salad dressing for a crowd.Ā The right task always magically finds its way to the right-sized bowl.
