Antique Autumn Floral Mismatched Serving Plates - Set of Two circa early 1900s

{HISTORY}

Bursting with autumn color and antique charm, this mismatched pair of orangey rust-red dishes were made in England in the early 1900s. Alike in color, composition and pattern these plates, although so exquisitely similar, were actually made by two different potteries. Mimicking the Imari style that was popular during the Victorian era, these orphan plates feature the color palette that was greatly admired at the turn of the 20th Century. 

The smaller plate was made by AB Jones & Sons in Longton, England which traded under the name Royal Grafton.  The larger plate was made by an English pottery that can only be identified as T & Sons, but from which no other history can be deciphered as of yet. 

Ideally sized for passing around a table or a party, these two plates look especially gorgeous when serving small desserts like cookies or cakes or a stack of your famous brownies. The rust, black and green color palette of each, with their swags and florals and dots adds warmth and elegance to most brown-shaded desserts which can tend to look a little plain when served on a solid plate or platter. Pile these two high with slices of coffee cake, a batch of sugar cookies, a smattering of mini tartlets, or anything dunked or drizzled in chocolate and you'll have pretty presentation all wrapped up in a feast for eyes and belly.

{CONDITION}

In gorgeous antique condition. These plates contain no chips, cracks or staining. 

{SIZE}

The small plate measures 6.75" inches in diameter and weighs 9oz.

The larger plate measures 9" inches in diameter and weighs 13 oz.
