1930's Crooksville China Company Platter - Pink Roses, Black Stripes, Yellow Banner - 11"

1930's Crooksville China Company Platter - Pink Roses, Black Stripes, Yellow Banner - 11"

The elusive charm of a home cook stems from clear overtones: a light touch  - a sense of humor - a flair for the clever idea in cooking and serving that results in something called style, but above all, is a feeling for the kind of beauty that women want about them in their work-a-day world. Ruth Berolzheimer

{HISTORY}

Ohio-based Crooksville China Company produced a range of beautiful dishware for the consumer market from 1902-1959. This platter was made sometime during the 1930's, a decade where the color black was a popular design choice and interesting new shapes were beginning to emerge. Featuring pink cabbage roses set against an intricate background of purple flowers, green leaves, black dots and detailed swags, this platter encapsulates all that is decorative when it comes to china design.

Small in shape, the rectangular style is especially lovely for single serving purposes or for small foods like petit fours, mini cupcakes, cookies, appetizers or snacks. It even makes an ideal snack tray as it can accommodate a tea or coffee cup with room on the side for a sweet treat or a small sandwich. When most people think of a platter it is usually big ones that come to mind - but small platters often wind up getting the most use especially in small spaces.
